THE STRUCTURE OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE:
Intelligence is not just about solving complex problems, being a math whiz, or scoring high on an IQ test. There is an entire other side to our being that we have yet to master. Emotional Intelligence is having a set of mental skills that enable us to understand and control our personal emotions. On top of understanding ourselves, EQ is also applicable when it comes to our relationships. It's how we recognize and effectively respect
and respond to the emotional states of others.
and respond to the emotional states of others.
MINDFULNESS EXPLAINED:
The first definition from MW dictionary for mindfulness is as follows: the quality or state of being mindful. For someone reading this definition for the first time, it might not be extremely helpful to fully understand what mindfulness is since it contains the word mindful. The second definition for mindfulness might be more helpful and is as follows: the practice of maintaining a non-judgmental state of heightened or complete awareness of one’s thoughts, emotions, or experiences on a moment-to-moment basis.
It is safe to say that after reading the second definitions of mindfulness, the meaning for the word can be better understood. In layman terms, the idea of mindfulness is being focused on who you are as a person in this present time and bringing you to a state of mind where you become more aware of who you are and how you work as a person. |

BENEFITS BEHIND PRACTICING MINDFULNESS: |
WHY SHOULD I BECOME MORE MINDFUL?
It is in our human nature to think about the past and the things that we have done, both right and wrong, and deeply reflect on those events. Some thoughts that go through the mind when thinking about the past include “what if I would have made this decision instead”, “I wish that never happened”, plus many others that would probably require an entire book to list and describe them in detail.
Similarly, when we think about the future, we tend to think about thoughts and ideas that are opposite of what we think about with regards to the past, including “what will happen if I make this decision”, “I hope that this event will happen”, etc. Juggling between the past and the future poses the threat of our thoughts always conflicting with each other, which can lead to many negative consequences to our body, including stress, sleep deprivation, plus many others. The solution to this problem is known and it is called “Mindfulness”. |
