Educate our children on emotional intelligence and
the habits that cultivate mindfulness.
Teaching young people to practice interpersonal skills creates an opportunity for them to get better at being social. We are educating on what matters in life: how to interact using empathy with others and how to interact
compassionately with yourself.
Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment.
Until it becomes a memory
– Dr. Seuss
UNDERSTANDING HABITUAL SPROUTS:
Psychology research (well before the 1900s) brought to light how unhealthy thoughts and mental habits can/will affect you emotionally, physically, psychologically, etc.
Through our introduction to positive ways of thinking and being; we are preparing our youth with the emotional skill set needed to live a happy, healthy life. There is a 50-10-40% formula derived by positive psychologist Sonja Lyubomirsky.
Her research shows us that:
50% of your happiness is determined by genetics
10% of your happiness is determined by your environment
40% of your happiness is determined by your internal/mental state
The Habitual Way
Below are examples that would be covered in a day with Habitual Sprouts:
Improving your child’s psychological health
According to the Washington Post, the average American teenager spend roughly 9 hours a day on their smart phone.
One San Diego State University study found that U.S. teens who spent more time on social media and electronic devices had a higher risk of mental illness and suicide versus those who spent their leisure time on non-screen activities.
Harvard University found that using electronic devices releases a neural chemical known as dopamine. Those who are engaged and actively use social media, video games, and other forms of digital interaction find themselves becoming addicted to the sensation.
As published in The Journal of Computers in Human Behavior, one University of California study found that children who had attended a device-free outdoor camp for five days outperformed a control group on tests for empathy.
About Our Program:
In 2018, we began building a community of leaders who are passionate about the youth of today which is why our program emphasizes deep discussion regarding what it means to be human and how to embrace our inner creativity.
Like adults, children need to understand their own creativity in order to reach their greatest potential. This is why we initiate stimulating conversation and activities that encourage creative development.
Habitual Sprouts has been found to tackle the problems arising from our age of digital transformation. We are here to cultivate genuine connection and self-understanding. Connect with us today if you want to enhance your child’s perception of themselves and their ability to relate to others
utilizing their own emotional intelligence.
