ROOTS - The 5 phases to living intentionally

​ROOTS is the approach to proactively heighten your self-awareness so you may find clarity and a deeper sense of inner-peace.
​Five-phases - Reset, Organize, Overcome, Transform, and Smile - enabling you to create positive habits of self-care.
This is achieved by using components of:
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Neuroscience
  • Habit Formation
  • Mindfulness
  • Leadership

​To build your understanding of the method, and help you apply it to create more clarity and peace, we’ve broken down the ROOTS Phases for you.

Before Starting ROOTS: Select An Area of Life to apply ROOTS

  • The intention behind your practice is to bring more awareness and clarity to that area of your life. Common examples are:
    • Personal Mastery
    • Relationships
    • Career
    • Financial Freedom
    • Health & Wellness
  • A good selection for awareness will set you up for success with ROOTS. Here are 4 key guidelines:
    • Choose an obvious problem within an area of your life
    • Look for something that would make an impact while being attainable - Meaningful and Manageable
    • Make sure there is value added around a sense of inner-peace resulting in clarity and direction towards the goals or achievements you have coming towards you
    • Confirm points of measurement that allow you to clearly track your progress - growth is undeniable when measured

Once you’ve selected a starting area, you may apply ROOTS to dive deeper into life conditioning and limiting factors to change so you may experience quantifiable shifts, and sustainable results.

Now, on to the ROOTS Methodology

RESET
Reset your perspective.
  • Reset is about taking a step back and removing yourself from your current endeavors. Leonardo Di Vinci would refer to this as “stepping away from your canvas” and Albert Einstein would phrase this as looking at “your problem from a different conscious state than when you encountered it.” Although there are a multitude of techniques that can be used to do this, traditional examples are: meditation, breathwork and/or exercise.
  • In order to truly reset, one must understand how their conscious and subconscious mind is involved in the process, thus building emotional intelligence and opening the door for habit formation.

ORGANIZE
Organize your thoughts.
  • Now that you have pressed the reset button in your mind, it is time to think deeply about what your goals are and how you can clarify them. Benjamin Franklin would set his intention for the day with the simple question of: “What good shall I do this day?” 
  • Organize is the phase of your practice where you determine what you want to focus on and set an intention. Thus creating a plan that will help you avoid getting distracted in order to achieve your results.

​OVERCOME
Overcome your doubts.
  • As you move past the beginning stages of identifying your direction, it is likely that you will run into a few roadblocks that might bring back some of those old negative habits.
  • It is imperative to reconcile your current beliefs about yourself and your capabilities. You are truly able to Overcome your results by eliminating the emotional baggage most of us carry with us daily.

TRANSFORM

Transform your behaviors.
  • Now that you have an organized plan of attack and spent time dedicated to overcoming your limiting beliefs, it’s time to continue perfecting your inner practice by building resilience and persistence to help you achieve your desired outcome.
  • Conceptually, following your plan is much easier than living and breathing it. It’s time to trust in yourself and the fact that you can withstand anything thrown at you. 
  • You would not be here if you were not ready to be. What does the person you want to become do daily? How do they feel? If you want to be that person, how do you need to feel? Focus intently and do the work to Transform.

SMILE

Smile at your ​life.
  • The beauty behind Smile is that you can always move to this phase. 
  • The intention of this phase is to enable moments and sensations of gratitude and reap the benefits of experiencing joy. You are an insightful and wonderful being. 
  • Practice letting your light shine bright in the world and smiling at the experiences that have brought you to this moment of growth. Another wonderful additive is that doing good deeds and making a positive impact in the lives of others encourages them to do so as well. So, the question for you is, what will you smile about today?​
